SUDE Ministries: SALVATION, RECEPTION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND WATER BAPTISM.

Concerning salvation, some people say a person receives the Holy Spirit after believing the Gospel without water baptism (though he might be baptised with water afterwards). Others also say a person receives the Holy Spirit not just after believing the Gospel but after he is baptised with water.

1. Which one comes first? Water Baptism or Baptism of the Spirit?

2. Is water baptism important during salvation or conversion?

We will look at these within Biblical Parameters. GET YOUR BIBLES UP!

Let’s begin.

In Acts 8: 5-24

The disciples after believing were first baptised with water and then baptised with the Spirit through the laying on of the Apostles’ hands.

In Acts 10: 44-48

The disciples after believing were first baptised with the Spirit without the laying on of the Apostles’ hands and then baptised with water.

In Acts 19: 1-7

The disciples after believing were first baptised with water and then baptised with the Spirit through the laying on of the Apostles’ hands.

Did you see that? You should go over it again.

In Luke 8: 13 and 15

We will see in verse 13 that there are people who hear the Gospel, receive the Gospel with Joy but have NO ROOT and so Believe for a while until they fall away in times of TEMPTATION (One of the ways God tests the hearts of men – The other ways are all in the Parable of the Sower).

And then we will see in verse 15 that the people who actually receive the Holy Spirit are those who HEAR the Gospel in an HONEST and GOOD HEART, and KEEP IT and BRING FORTH FRUIT with PATIENCE.

Now, GOD is not mocked. He TESTS THE MIND and SEARCHES THE HEART of those who respond to His Gospel. This is why SO MANY PEOPLE claim they believe in JESUS but are still not SAVED and don’t have the HOLY SPIRIT! Though they confess the the name of the LORD Jesus, their confession is FALSE because of the INSINCERITY OF THEIR HEARTS. They have NO ROOT!!

In John 3: 4-8

We will see that though we know a person receives the Holy Spirit when he believes, NOBODY(MAN) KNOWS THE EXACT MOMENT(SECONDS) THE PERSON RECEIVES THE HOLY SPIRIT because it is a mystery we can never fully know and understand.

Nevertheless the person will eventually know he is saved when he receives the Holy Spirit because the Spirit Himself will bear witness with his spirit that he is a son of God. So the exact time of the reception of the Holy Spirit and His work in us is a mystery no man can fully understand. ALL WE CAN DO IS TO TRUST THE LORD AND TRULY BELIEVE THE GOSPEL!

It’s important to note that a person can receive the Holy Spirit directly from God or indirectly from God through the laying of hands of a true Apostle of Christ.

CONCLUSION: Many people BELIEVE in the SIGHT OF MAN but the TRUE BELIEVERS in the SIGHT OF GOD are those who have received the Holy Spirit.

SALVATION is finalised the moment a person receives the Holy Spirit. THAT’S HOW GOD SEALS A PERSON IN HIM(GOD). (See EPHESIANS 1:13)

And concerning the baptism with water and the baptism of the Spirit…..It doesn’t matter which one comes first, as we have seen in the scriptures above. They are both important but THE MOST IMPORTANT BAPTISM IS WITH THE SPIRIT BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE THE SALVATION OF MAN IS SEALED!

Nevertheless NO MAN SHOULD FORBID a person from the baptism with water. — (See ACTS 10: 47 – 48)

NOTE: When we say we believe in Jesus Christ, it has to be of an honest and good heart. There should be absolute sincerity because God is not mocked. We CANNOT DECEIVE HIM.

LET ME ADD THIS: When a person starts to believe in Jesus Christ, he should continue in His Word and with prayers until he is fully certain that he has received the Holy Spirit.
